Location of Kotor

The Montenegrin city is located in the eastern part of the Bay of Kotor. Mountains between 1000 and 1700 metres in height surround it. Although the bay is actually a river flooded by the sea, it is one of the deepest inland bays in the Adriatic Sea. Sometimes we refer to Kotor as the southernmost fjord in Europe.

Can you rent a yacht in Kotor – do I need a license?

Small boats (under a certain horsepower or length), electric boats, crewed yacht charters and gulet charters may not require a license. Larger boats or those with more powerful engines need a skipper’s license. Before you confirm your sailing trip to Kotor, please send us a copy and we will check it for you. You need to have the original copies with you on-board, so don’t forget to take them.

The excellent port of the holiday resort is also known as Dukley Marina Budva. It has 300 berths and can accommodate boats up to 40 metres in length. The maximum depth of the seabed is 4 metres. Montenegro’s largest and most important port is also known as Luka Bar. The port consists of several sections: the port for scheduled vessels, the port for private vessels, the port for commercial vessels and a military port. Plavi Horizonti Beach

The golden sandy Plavi Horizonti beach is located near Tivat. It has a Certification and is especially ideal for families with small children. For water sports, we recommend snorkelling, as you can see many unique fish in the crystal clear water. If you would like to avoid crowded places, this beach is a perfect choice because it is very quiet and peaceful.

Which period is best to sail in Kotor?

A pleasant, moderate climate characterises the Montenegrin holiday resort. The summer is warm and dry, the winter is mild. In August, temperatures can reach up to 29.6°C. Maximum rainfall occurs in November. Due to the pleasant weather, we recommend visiting Kotor from April to October.
