The location of Portisco

The town is located in the northeastern region of Sardinia, in the province of Sassari. You can find this charming town in Cugnana Bay near San Panteolo and Porto Rotondo.

Can you rent a yacht in Portisco – do I need a license?

Small boats (under a certain horsepower or length), electric boats, crewed yacht charters and gulet charters may not require a license. Larger boats or those with more powerful engines need a skipper’s license. Before you confirm your sailing trip to Portisco, please send us a copy and we will check it for you. You need to have the original copies with you on-board, so don’t forget to take them.
To sail in Italy, one of the following qualifications is necessary: • ICC (International Certificate of Competence), International, with valid Navigational and VHF licenses, Prerequisites: RYA “Day Skipper Course” or complete the ICC Assessment form to prove competence from previous experience.• IPC (International Proficiency Certificate), America, Prerequisites: ASA 104 or US Sailing “Bareboat Cruising Course” OR: • NauticEd SLC (International Sailing License and Credentials), International, • UK – RYA Day Skipper practical, • USA – US Sailing “Bareboat Cruising Course”, ASA “104 Bareboat Cruising Course” or above, • Germany – “Sportbootführerschein See“ or above, • Belgium – Algemeen Stuurbrevet/ Brevet de conduite général, • France – LE PERMIS PLAISANCE

Yacht charter Portisco – the main ports

Marina di Portisco

This port in Costa Smeralda offers 589 berths for yachts between 4–90 metres long. It is protected well and has all the services you might need: running water, electricity, Wi-Fi and fuel.

Marina di Porto Rotondo

There are 650 berths here for yachts with a length of 90 metres. The depth of the water is 5.5 metres. They provide fuel, maintenance and medical assistance as well as drinking water, electricity and Wi-Fi.

Marina di Golfo Aranci

The well-equipped port is only 20 metres from the centre of Golfo Aranci. They have 30 berths for boats as long as 5-16 metres. The depth of the water is 1.5-5 metres. The breakwater provides safety against winds dominant in the area. They offer electricity, Wi-Fi, a bar and a restaurant.

Marina di Olbia

The important port has 270 berths for yachts up to 80 metres long. The maximum depth is 5.2 metres. The protected port offers several good-quality services, and there is a bar and a restaurant.

Porto Cervo Marina

This is one of the best equipped and most welcoming ports on the Adriatic Sea. There are 700 berths available, 100 of which are preserved for yachts passing through. Yachts with a length of up to 120 metres can be docked here. The depth of the water is 1.7-7 metres. Every berth provides drinking water and electricity.

Poltu Quatu

Arzachena’s port, which opened in 1987, is still very popular to this day. They have 305 berths for yachts as long as 8-35 metres. The depth of water is 3 metres around the entrance and 2 metres in the inner dock.

Marina di Cannigione

The port can accept boats with a length of up to 25 metres with its 400 moorings. The maximum depth is 4.5 metres. They have drinking water, electricity, and laundry and they also provide boat maintenance. You can also explore a cosy bar and a restaurant nearby.

Porto di Santa Teresa Gallura

There are 700 permanent berths for boats with a maximum length of 45 metres. The sea bottom is 5 metres deep. The perfectly protected port offers great services, and there is a great bar and a restaurant nearby.

The main sights to see in Portisco

The town is mostly known for its beaches with crystal clear water and its large port. Portisco is a perfect starting point when exploring Porto Rotondo, Golfo Aranci, Olbia or Mortorio Island nearby. The latter – which is an uninhabited island – belongs to the La Maddalena National Park. If you are looking for peace and quiet, we recommend that you visit this place in particular. The breathtaking rocks and lush flora further enhance the beauty of this unspoiled land.

Porto Rotondo nearby is famous for the Church of San Lorenzo which has a friendly interior and a beautiful dome. Another must-see sight here is in the centre of town: the Piazzetta San Marco square.

Gastronomy of Portisco

As for restaurants, Ristorante Su Cubone, which is overlooking the port, is one of the best choices in Portisco. You should definitely try their authentic Italian spaghetti. Beside the delicious dishes, you can also choose from a large selection of excellent wines. The restaurant Portisco Beach Music is another amazing place with great pasta and fish dishes, a family-friendly atmosphere and nice service.

The 150-metre-long and 15-metre-wide beach is easily accessible. There are rocks dispersed in the sand. If you choose to visit this beach, you can expect many good-quality services. You can even try the amazing sports of snorkelling in the crystal clear water.

Liscia Ruja Beach

Liscia Ruja is one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Smeralda. The wonderful shore segment can be found between Portisco and Cala di Volpe. Thanks to its length of 700 metres, it is also among the largest beaches in the area. There is a wonderful view of the islands of Soffi and Mortorio from here. You can rent sunshades and lounges on the beach, which has white sand and incredible light blue waters.

Which period is best to sail Portisco?

This holiday resort in Costa Smeralda is characterised by a pleasant Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and dry while winters are usually mild. The warmest month is July when the temperature might get as high as 33°C. Due to the pleasant weather, we recommend that you visit Portisco anytime between April and October.
